About the institute

The Matjes Institute for Gallop Simulation (MIG) based in Hamburg is a private institution for the research of race physics and development of algorithms for use in horse racing simulators. Among other things, the research department deals with the analysis of third-party algorithms with the goal of algorithm optimization. The institute was founded on 18th December 2017 by Marco Matjes.

From the MIG, the spin-off GALOPPSIM.RACING emerged, which produces the GaloppSim Excel horse racing simulator and uses the findings of the institute’s research activities for practical application.

The MIG has its own stable with large pastures and organizes racing events, including since 2018 the Matjes Grand Prix which is the most prestigious horse simulation race in Germany and the Netherlands.
